Outside of a couple Kentucky Derby favorites, the 2016 Run for the Roses lacks for speed, but not closers. Which come-from-behind horse will get there first? 
In one of the more wide-open betting races on the Kentucky Oaks undercard May 6 at Churchill Downs, the Grade 2, $400,000 Alysheba features a field of ten veteran runners set to go a mile and a sixteenth on the main track. 
On Saturday at Charles Town, the track will host the $100,000 Robert Hilton Memorial Stakes. Restricted to three-year-olds, the seven-furlong contest has drawn a field of seven colts and geldings. 
The 86th running of the Grade 3 Ben Ali April 16 at Keeneland features a field of ten older horses set to go a mile and an eighth in a betting race with plenty of viable angles. 
On Friday at Keeneland, the featured race is the $300,000 Maker’s 46 Mile Stakes. Scheduled to be run at one mile on the turf, the Grade 1 event has drawn a wide open field of nine contenders. 
On Saturday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the $100,000 San Simeon Stakes. Scheduled to be run at about six and a half furlongs over the downhill turf course, the Grade 3 has drawn a field of nine colts and geldings. 
A flurry of stakes racing populates the April 2 closing day card at Gulfstream Park beginning in race 5 with the Grade 3, $150,000 Skipaway Stakes as a field of six older horses will contest the mile and one eighth event on the main track. 
The Grade 1, $500,000 Santa Margarita March 19 at Santa Anita is the featured event as a field of six will contest the mile and an eighth challenge on the main track. 
On Sunday at Santa Anita, the track will host the $75,000 San Pedro Stakes. Restricted to three-year-olds, the six furlong contest has drawn a field of seven colts and geldings.
