Trevita Stakes Highlights Aquaduct Card
Stakes racing on the Wednesday card at Aquaduct gets underway immediately with the first of the day’s nine races, the $100,000 Trevita Stakes for fillies and mares three-years-old and up racing 1 1/16 miles on the Aquaduct turf course. Five fillies and two mares are expected to go to the gate, with two more on the Also Eligibles list if the race happens to be moved off the grass. The morning line favorite is a six-year-old Kitten’s Joy mare named Deanaallan’skitten at 7-5. She’ll be making her second lifetime stakes start seeking her seventh overall win.
Favorite racing for first stakes victory
Last time out in the Speed Boat Stakes at Saratoga in early September, Deanaallan’skitten racedin mid-pack into the stretch and then moved up for a third-place finish in a race that was won by the UK-bred graded-stakes winner Samitar. Early this year Deanaallen’skitten had managed a pair of wins, with the second coming in mid-allowance company at Belmont. She’s been in the money in four of five starts total for 2013, after taking nine starts and almost two years to break her maiden.
Second choice had Grade I experience
She’ll most likely have to hold off Moment in Dixie (3-1), who was ninth two starts back in the Grade I Ballerina at Saratoga, a race in which the top two went on to run in the Breeders’ Cup this past weekend. That was Moment in Dixie’s second lifetime Grade I event, and she was second last time out in the seven furlong Jazzy Stakes at Belmont. Breaking from the inside post will be the Irish-bred Madea (8-1), a lightly raced four-year-old who has never been worse than third in six starts in England and the US.
