On Saturday at Aqueduct, the track will host the $100,000 Notebook Stakes. Restricted to two-year-olds bred in New York, the six-furlong contest has drawn a field of eight colts and geldings.

Sudden Surprise tops the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 8-5 and is one of two horses for trainer Todd Pletcher. A bay son of Giant Surprise bred and owned by Repole Stables, he has won three of his four starts and is a two time stakes winner. He is trying to rebound after finishing fourth in the Sleepy Hollow Stakes and will cut back to a sprint after competing at one mile last time out. John Velazquez will be aboard and they will break from the outside post.

Spooked Out stepping up in class

Pletcher will also saddle Spooked Out as the second choice at odds of 5-2 on the morning line. A gray son of Catienus, he is another homebred for Repole Stables and is out of a stakes placed mare. He will be stepping up to stakes competition for the first time. After a runner-up effort in his debut, he came back to break his maiden last time out and will break from the rail under jockey Chris DeCarlo.

Love That Jazz trying to rebound off last race

Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is Love That Jazz for trainer Steve Asmussen. Purchased for $57,000 as a yearling, he has one win from five starts and broke his maiden against stakes competition in the Aspirant Stakes in his fourth career start. Last time out, he was fifth in the New York Breeders’ Futurity. Joel Rosario will be aboard and they will break from post position two.
