On Sunday at Remington Park, the featured race is the $250,000 Remington Springboard Mile. Restricted to two-year-olds, the one mile contest has drawn a field of twelve colts and geldings.

Esposito has been tabbed as the morning line favorite in the wide open field at odds of 5-2 for trainer Tom Proctor. Bred in Ontario, the bay son of Ghostzapper sold for $45,000 as a yearling and has one win from two starts. After finishing third in his debut, he broke his maiden in his next start at Del Mar by 2 ½ lengths. He will be stepping up to stakes competition for the first time and is scheduled to break from post position two under jockey Drayden Van Dyke.

Suddenbreakingnews trying for second straight stakes win

Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Suddenbreakingnews for trainer Donnie Von Hemel. A gelded son of Mineshaft, he went for $72,000 as a yearling and has been on the board in all four starts with two victories. He earned his first stakes victory last time out in the Clevor Trevor Stakes and has been based at Remington Park for all four starts. Luis Quinonez will be aboard from the inside post.

Stakes debut for well-bred Battle Tap

Also in the field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Battle Tap for Steve Asmussen. A chestnut son of Smart Strike, he is a homebred for Winchell Thoroughbreds and has one win from three starts. He has steadily improved with each outing, first finishing sixth in his debut, then third in his next start and finally broke through to win last out. Ricardo Santana, Jr. will be in the irons and they will break from post three.
