Breeders' Cup 2012 Championship Betting
Sunny skies and the warm breezes of California are tempting horse betting fans in the frozen north of the United States, including those in New York State. That’s because the Breeders’ Cup 2012 Championship is slated for Santa Anita Park in California during the first weekend of November. With 15 total races, six on Friday and nine on Saturday, this is the Super Bowl of pony wagering. The BCC races also signify the end of the International thoroughbred horse racing calendar. Thrilling pony prognosticating is on the horizon at New York OTB locations!
Santa Anita Hosts the World: Past & present collide
Tucked into the foothills of the majestic San Gabriel Mountains, this gem in the racing world is just 33 miles NE of Hollywood Park, the site of the inaugural Breeders’ Cup back 1987. Few will forget the historic charge of Zenyatta back in 2009 on this very track. The venerable super horse gave the field an 11-length head start before tracking them down with 200 yards to go to become the first filly/mare to win the Classic. She failed in her bid for an undefeated lifetime record at the 2010 classic, ran at Churchilll Downs, but she is still the Queen of Racing.
Breeders’ Cup Classic draws a star-studded field
Celebrating the ninth BCC to be held in California, Santa Anita Park is hosting this global horse racing event for the sixth time. The field promises to be packed with a star-studded field that is projected to include 2011 runners Game On Dude, Flat Out, and To Honor and Serve. Game On Dude is out to avenge his loss to Drosselmeyer, who “came from out of the clouds” to win the Classic by a length at Churchill Downs last year. Drosselmeyer helped Jockey Mike Smith get over his failed bid as was the mount on Zenyatta in the 2010 Breeders' Cup Classic.
