The heavily-favored Songbird headlines the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes August 20 at Saratoga where the unbeaten champion will face six rivals going a mile and a quarter in the tradition laden race.

After finding little competiton in her first eight starts, including a win in the 2015 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, Songbird (1/5) handled her first start in New York with aplomb winning the mile and an eighth Coaching Club American Oaks after shaking off a dificult challenge from the well-regarded Carina Mia. The win was Songbird's furthest race and the Jerry Holldendorfer filly must handle another eighth of a mile while facing a talented field.

Go Maggie Go (8/1) and Weep No More More (15/1) both have high-profile wins under the belts this season. Go Maggie Go was a troubled fourth in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks before returning promptly to win the Grade 2 Blackeyed Susan at Pimlico. Weep No More, a come-from-behind shocker in the Grade 1 Ashland figures to appreciate every bit of the 10-furlong Alabama and could be charging late. The speedy Family Tree (10/1) could prevent Songbird from snagging a comfortable early lead.

OTB NY Picks

1) #6 Songbird

2) #4 Go Maggie Go

3) #2 Weep No More

4) #1 Dark Nile
