$100,000 Curlin Stakes at Saratoga Features Field of Ten
The summer stakes races continue at Saratoga continue on Friday with 6th running of the $100,000 Curlin Stakes. Restricted to three-year-olds, the race will be run at a mile and an eighth and will feature a field of ten.
Commanding Curve, the runner-up in the Kentucky Derby (G1), has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite and will break from the inside post. Trained by Dallas Stewart and ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, the ridgling son of Master Command was last seen finishing ninth in the Belmont Stakes (G1). He has a lone maiden win to his credit and will be looking for his first stakes win.
Life in Shambles trying for first stakes win
Belmont Stakes winning trainer Christophe Clement will send out Life In Shambles at 6-1 on the morning line. Joel Rosario will be back aboard the gray gelded son of Broken Vow and they will break from the outside post ten. From five starts, he has won two of them and was third in the Easy Goer Stakes in his most recent outing in June at Belmont behind Kid Cruz, a top contender in the Jim Dandy.
Half to Kentucky Derby winner a star on the rise
Also in the field is Charge Now, a half-brother to Kentucky Derby winner Supersaver by top stallion Tiznow. A longshot at 10-1 on the morning line for Bill Mott, the bay colt is a homebred for WinStar Farm, LLC and will be ridden by Junior Alvarado. The late-blooming colt is trying to rebound off of a seventh-place finish in the Iowa Derby (G3) following a pair of victories.
