Lovable Lyss steps up

Lovable Lyss (4/1) makes her stakes debut after winning two of three starts in 2015. The Hugh Robertson trained and owned filly finished second in her debut at Arlington Park before reeling off consecutive victories at Fair Grounds. A daughter of 2008 Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown out of a Stephen Got Even mare, Lovable Lyss has plenty of license to improve with experience and more distance. Jet Black Magic (5/1) won the Grade 3 Delta Princess to close her juvenile campaign for trainer William Brett Calhoun, and has hit the board in all four career starts. The improving Louisiana-bred daughter of Hold Me Back may have to take another step forward to compete with the top two.
